Imagine characters, events, and setting to help you understand what’s happening. Pay attention (use all your senses) to the images that form in your mind as you read. A good book is like a movie in your mind!

I can imagine…. I am picturing…. My mental images include…. I could see/hear/taste/smell…

Question

Search for reasons behind events and characters’ feelings can help you feel closer to what you are reading.

I wonder…? I do not understand… It confused me when…. How could…? Why did……?

Predict

Inference/ Determine Theme

Use details from the text and your own knowledge to infer the author’s message.
